Ripple Strategies - Progressive PR

Case Studies

Ripple helps to raise the profile of important projects and campaigns.
Below is a small sampling of our work.

Healthytoys.org
Just before the holiday season Ripple teamed up with the Ecology Center and the Washington Toxics Coalition to release the first-ever consumer guide to toxic chemicals in toys. Over 1,500 popular children's toys were tested for lead, PVC, cadmium and other harmful chemicals to help holiday shoppers choose safer products for their families. Ripple identified spokespeople, developed talking points, placed an op-ed, wrote press releases, created a targeted press list, edited website content, and pitched reporters. As a result, HealthyToys.org was featured on every major television network including CNN, ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS; and profiled in the Washington Post, Wall St. Journal, Associated Press, LA Times, San Francisco Chronicle and National Public Radio, among hundreds of other local and national media outlets. read on...

Healthycar.org
Crash tests aren't the only way to prove the safety of a child's car seat, according to new research by the Ann Arbor-based Ecology Center. Their study, found at http://www.healthycar.org shows that brand new car seats are made with several dangerous chemicals including bromine, chlorine and lead that can lead to serious health risks for children. Ripple helped launch these findings by booking the study's author, Jeff Gearhart, on CNN's American Morning for a 10 minute feature on the issue. CNN used the B-Roll we created, as did NBC and ABC stations around the country. In a separate but related campaign Ripple helped the Ecology Center release the first-ever consumer guide to toxic chemicals in cars, also at read on...

"Toxic at Any Speed Report" Report
When it comes to auto safety most people think of seatbelts and airbags. But cars also pose hidden hazards that endanger drivers and passengers before even turning on the ignition. Ripple worked with the Ecology Center to release their new report, "Toxic at Any Speed: Chemicals in Cars and the Need for Safe Alternatives", (http://www.ecocenter.org/toxicatanyspeed.shtml) which found high levels of toxic chemicals used to make seat cushions, arm rests, floor coverings and other interior auto parts. Ripple helped translate this scientific report into layperson language, identified the most newsworthy messages, and helped create b-roll to encourage television stations to cover this important story. read on...

Clean Production Action knew that their study on the hazardous chemicals found in household dust (www.safer-products.org) needed media attention in order to be heard by key legislators.
