"Happily, Even After" at the Tribeca Film Festival
When director Unsu Lee approached Ripple to promote the premiere of his film, "Happily, Even After" at the Tribeca Film Festival, our biggest challenge was how to set it apart from the dozens of other films. Although it featured Jason Behr from the TV show "Roswell," Marina Black from "Six Feet Under," and Fay Masterson from "Eyes Wide Shut," this wasn't enough to automatically garner media attention amidst all of the Festival's star power. We decided to use the character of the Fairy Godmother in the film to help with promotion. We hired an actress and rented a spectacular dress (wand and all!) and had the character walk around Union Square promoting the film. Then she spent two days personally handing out invitations to distributors, which certainly made an impact in New York office buildings. Finally, we had the glamorous fairy godmother walk around Tribeca on opening day promoting the film. Since she was the only sparkly-dressed person around, the "Happily, Even After" fairy godmother was filmed by all of the TV crews who were covering the opening of the Tribeca Film Festival, including New York One, CBS and Univision. In addition, we were able to get Jason Behr, Fay Masterson and Unsu Lee on the CBS and NBC Early Shows and on Court TV during the Festival. Every screening of "Happily, Even After" sold out at the Festival.
