Leesa – Business as a Force for Social Good
Ripple had the honor of working with Leesa, an online luxury mattress company that is a true social enterprise. Leesa not only donates 1 mattress to a homeless shelter for every 10 they sell – and have donated nearly 10,000 mattresses so far! – but they also have a store in NYC that doubles as a gallery for homeless and disabled artists; are committed to planting 1 million trees by 2025; and empowers their employees to participate in local community service projects. Leesa hired Ripple (a fellow BCorp) to announce their new BCorp status, welcoming them to the global movement of people using business as a force for good. We helped them write and place a blog post that ran on Triple Pundit: One Company Tackles Homelessness: One Mattress At A Time; and strategized various ways to make their social impact work an effective, and genuine, part of their marketing efforts. Some of the coverage we helped generate included stories in B the Change, CauseTalk podcast, Leesa’s local paper the Virginia-Pilot; and several stories related to their mattress donation event in Colorado Springs including the Colorado Springs Business Journal, the Colorado Springs Independent, KOAA Channel 5, KKTV Channel 11 and KKRM Fox 21. Leesa’s social mission is directly related to their business goals, making them an excellent example of impactful cause marketing. We wrote about this in our article Making Corporate-Nonprofit Alliances Work in the Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR) – if you missed that article please check it out here.
